How long does it take to immigrate to Canada?
It depends on the program. Express Entry (federal): ~6 months. Provincial PNPs: 12 to 24 months. Study permit + PGWP + PR: 3-5 years. Family sponsorship: 12-24 months.
Do I need to know English to immigrate?
For most economic programs, yes. IELTS or CELPIP (English), TEF or TCF (French). CLB 7 for FSW and CEC, CLB 5 for FST.
Express Entry
What is Express Entry?
An application management system for 3 federal programs: FSW (Federal Skilled Worker), CEC (Canadian Experience Class), and FST (Federal Skilled Trades). Candidates are scored by CRS and invited through periodic draws.
What is the CRS and how do I calculate it?
Comprehensive Ranking System — the score used by IRCC to rank candidates. It considers age, education, languages, experience, and job offer. Maximum 1,200 points. Calculate your CRS here.
