CEC Draw #446: September 29 Invites 2,000 at CRS 518, Third Straight Decline | ImmigraCan
· | Categoria: express-entry
IRCC's September 29, 2026 Express Entry round invited 2,000 Canadian Experience Class candidates at a CRS cutoff of 518 — one point below the September 15 round and the third consecutive CEC draw to drop in September.

IRCC (*Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada*, Canada's immigration authority) issued 2,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) in Express Entry round #446, a CEC (*Canadian Experience Class*) draw held on September 29, 2026, at a CRS (*Comprehensive Ranking System*, Express Entry's points system) cutoff of 518 points. That is one point below the CEC round held two weeks earlier, on September 15, and the third CEC-specific draw of the month — each one landing lower than the last.
The Numbers of the September 29 Round
- Date: September 29, 2026
- Round number: #446
- Category: Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Invitations issued: 2,000
- CRS cutoff: 518 points
- Tie-break rule: February 13, 2026, at 20:48:08 UTC
The tie-break date is the detail most candidates miss. A profile sitting exactly at 518 points only received an ITA if it had been submitted before February 13, 2026 — more than seven months before this draw took place. Anyone who reached 518 after that date, even comfortably, was left out this round regardless of how the score was built.
Three CEC Draws, Three Straight Declines
September has now produced three CEC-specific rounds, and the cutoff has slipped a little further each time:
- September 1, 2026: 2,000 ITAs at CRS 521
- September 15, 2026: 2,000 ITAs at CRS 519
- September 29, 2026: 2,000 ITAs at CRS 518
Every round invited the same 2,000 candidates, and the cutoff has moved down by only one or two points at a time — a slow, controlled slide rather than a sharp drop. That points to a pool where the top CRS band keeps refilling almost as fast as IRCC draws from it, the same pattern already visible in the September 15 round. At 518, this round sits mid-range for CEC in 2026, a category that has moved roughly between 507 and 523 points over the year.
This was also the 17th CEC-specific draw of 2026. Across all Express Entry categories, IRCC has now issued roughly 131,700 invitations through 58 rounds this year, with CEC alone accounting for more than 55,000 of them across those 17 rounds — the single largest share of any category, ahead of PNP and the occupation-based rounds combined.
Who the CEC Actually Reaches
The CEC is one of three federal programs inside Express Entry, alongside FSW (*Federal Skilled Worker*) and FST (*Federal Skilled Trades*). To qualify, a candidate needs:
- At least 12 months of skilled work experience in Canada within the past three years, gained under a valid work permit
- Language results of CLB (*Canadian Language Benchmark*) 7 for TEER 0 and TEER 1 occupations, or CLB 5 for TEER 2 and TEER 3
- No job offer or proof of settlement funds required
Because every CEC candidate is already competing from inside the same high-scoring slice of the pool, small point movements carry real weight here — a one-point drop, like the one seen in this round, is enough to bring in candidates who missed the cutoff twice already this month.
What This Means If You're Waiting on a CEC Draw
1. Know your exact CRS number before reacting to a headline. A score sitting one point under 518 and a score sitting 60 points under call for different plans — the ImmigraCan free eligibility quiz calculates your score and checks it against the programs actually open right now, without promising any specific result.
2. The pool date matters as much as the score. The February 13 tie-break shows that when a profile was created can decide an ITA as much as the score itself. If you are already eligible, submitting early costs nothing and can only help later.
3. A PNP nomination is still the fastest way past a high CEC line. A provincial nomination adds 600 points to the CRS, which puts a candidate well above any CEC cutoff seen in 2026. The ImmigraCan programs catalog lines up CEC, FSW, FST and the active provincial streams side by side.
4. If an ITA arrives, the eAPR deadline is 60 days. Proof of Canadian work experience, language test results and, where applicable, the ECA (*Educational Credential Assessment*) should be ready ahead of time, not assembled after the invitation shows up.
One note from my own experience: I validated my electrician's license (309A) in Ontario between 2019 and 2022, and both negatives I got along the way traced back to paperwork I assembled too late, not requirements I couldn't meet. Whatever program you're aiming for, the documents cost nothing to prepare early — the score is what takes time.
What to Watch Next
Three CEC draws in a row have now moved down by single digits each time, which reads less like a cooling pool and more like a steady, predictable channel doing most of the heavy lifting for Express Entry in 2026. The number worth tracking next is whether the cutoff keeps sliding toward the 507-point low seen earlier this year, or holds closer to the 518-521 range this month has stayed in — that will say more about how much room is really left at the top of the pool.
